Borderline Personality Traits
Personality traits are constant patterns of perceiving, which is associated to thinking about oneself and environment. They are basically displayed in a wide variety of significant personal and social contexts. In the occasion that these traits are radically maladaptive it can cause grave harm or subjective concern which can lead to personality disorder. The personality disorder manifestations may begin to be noticed by adolescence and may continue to early adulthood or throughout the life.
Ideally, borderline personality disorders are not officially diagnosed for patients below 18 years old for the reason that the person is still undergoing some changes in their behavior. On the other hand, in case of serious and severe exposure to environmental situation during that stage can surely lead to borderline personality disorder in children or adolescents.
The Common Borderline Personality Traits
- The person with borderline personality disorder usually thinks or imagined that they will be abandoned by their love one. Meaning people with this condition are afraid of being left alone or abandoned even if it not going to happen. They also tend to become dependent.
- Another trait for borderline personality disorder is having intense and unstoppable interpersonal relationships. These people tend to have an argument or being pickle-minded some time.
- They often have a sudden shift of behavior from being so happy and at the next moment of being extreme lonely or depressed without a clear reason. They usually need someone to assure their self-image.
- Another borderline personality train is being an impulsive that can lead of damaging or degrading themselves like binge eating, reckless driving, substance abuse, rush driving and promiscuous sex.
- Has a persistent suicidal behavior like they enjoy hurting themselves whether it is burning or cutting them.
- The feeling of being irritable, mood swings and anxiety that last for hours or several days.
- Has the constant feeling of emptiness or left behind.
- One of the traits for borderline personality disorder is severe anger or finds it difficult to control the anger such as recurrent physical fights, constant anger and temper.
Borderline personality disorder is not a simple condition because severe case of this disorder can actually affect the person’s life. That is why it is very important for the person to have diagnosed and treated, for them to live a normal life or able to manage their condition.
