Experiencing borderline personality disorder is very annoying. This condition can happen to anyone young and adult alike. That is why it is necessary to know coping with borderline personality disorder. In this way loved ones can have the chance to overcome the manipulative environment that affects the house rules. This is very important especially to parents of children with borderline personality disorder because people with personality disorder usually exploit the weakness of other people.

Key tips in coping with borderline personality disorder

Recognize the symptoms of the personality disorder. Apparently, a person with personality disorder is physically combatant as it is his or her way of calling emergency services.

Never give them the chance to defeat you verbally as they would wage verbal war. Keep in mind that most of them are good in manipulating language that is why they can easily engage in verbal wrestling.

Disengage in heated debate. Coping with borderline personality disorder requires strategy of surrendering your control in a situation that would lead to heated debate. You can allow your child to manipulate your emotions but never allow him or her to interrogate you further.

Expect sudden changes in mood especially in times of heated debate. Nevertheless, the person with personality disorder also shows shyness by shifting emotion when there is a visitor. This is his or her way of deceiving other people about his or her personality as he or she has the ability to change emotions just like a chameleon changing colors.

Ignore personal attacks in case that a person with personality disorder does not believe on what you are saying. This is one way of coping with borderline personality disorder by cutting your authority to enforce negotiation. This strategy is tactical in nature.

Separate other family members in case a person with personality disorder is screaming. As much as possible you should take him or her out so that other children or family member will not witness his or her acts.

Consult specialist in case of persistent tantrums in order to rule out the possible hormonal imbalance. Hormonal therapy can help in improving the extreme mood swings. However, it is important to let the person know that you will take him or her to health professional. In this way you can ask her or him to cooperate with the tests as well as interviews.

Individuals showing the traits of borderline personality disorder are considered as notorious psychological condition that is not easy to treat. Most of these people cannot be successful in their therapy and usually fail to respond successfully after several efforts and consideration has given by the therapist especially when there’s an attempt of suicidal behavior.

Dialectical behavior therapy is one of the newest methods on treating borderline personality disorder. Basically this method is intended for some patient with severe case of borderline personality disorder. It is a very optimistic approach that can help the therapist to have a continuing support to the patient.

Dialectical behavior therapy borderline personality disorder was created by an expert psychologist named Marsha Linehan from the University of Washington, Seattle.

Borderline Personality Disorder

This therapy is based is on the borderline personality disorder’s bio-social theory. She assumed that this condition is a result of a vulnerable emotion of a person while growing up due to environmental circumstances, which she referred as invalidating environment.

A person with weak emotion cannot handle mild stress than normal people do. As a result they will react negatively and find it hard to return to the normal baseline after the stress is already detached. That is why Linehan suggested this therapy for borderline personality disorder.

Primarily, dialectical therapy has four modes such as individual therapy, group skills training, telephone contact and therapist consultation. Each of these modes can be applied to the patient so that they can able to cope up with their borderline personality disorder.

The development of bpd borderline personality disorder is complicated. There are lots of contributory factors that can cause this condition. Furthermore, many experts considered that borderline personality disorder bpd may be developed due to environmental, genetic and biological factors. Nevertheless, it is also very important to know that there’s no exact cause for this condition. More studies and research are still needed in order to determine the exact causes of borderline personality disorder.

Environmental Borderline Personality Disorder Causes

There is a strong link between the environment of the patient and the borderline personality disorder, which involves the childhood experience of the person. That experience can be negative such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, early separation from parent, physical and emotional neglect. It only means one thing and that is borderline personality disorder can be caused by environment of the person during his or her childhood, which has a strong impact on their life.

Additionally, it is also very important to take note that not every individual with borderline personality disorder has had the above mentioned experience, although many of these people have. On the other hand, not all people have these experience can actually develop borderline personality disorder.

Genetic and Biological Borderline Personality Disorder Causes

Even though certain studies shows that borderline personality disorder can be genetic or runs in the family, it was not yet known before because it can be the influence of the environment or genetics. At present, there’s strong evidence that demonstrates that genetics has a big role.

In a specific studies it show that there is a variation in gene that control the capacity of the brain to use serotonin, an essential chemical found in brain that can play an important role on how is the brain will function especially during times of extreme stress like experienced a hardship during childhood.

These causes of borderline personality disorder may differ from person to person. That is why, it is very important to know that asking the patient’s environment during childhood is very important on how they can be able to be treated for this condition.
